Install Ruins  
 

1 Would like to copy the corresponding versions to you installation maya directory.

IF use Ruins 2.0,You need to downlode cuda driver and toolkit:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_get.html

2 If Windows : copy the ruinskey.dat to you c:\flexlm

 If Linux  : copy the ruinskey.dat to you var\flexlm
install it and copy /usr/local/cuda/lib( or /lib64 ) libcudart.so libcudart.so.2 libcudart.so.2.1 to you /usr/lib64!


 If Mac OS  : copy the ruinskey.dat to you var\flexlm

3 Open maya find menu:
 Window->Setting/Preferences->plug-ins Mannager:

You must keep normal right and object must be closed.

2 shatter:
1) first,you can use precision shatter button to split object if you want;

  r4    split direction: V Side: 0.3;

2) select debris if you want to continue to split.use shatter button.
    division levels : Control mesh density, Minimum of 3.

    debris Noise: shatter depth, value max, Minimum of -1, Maximum of 1;

    rand seed : change rand value;

    
recursion: shatter again;

Tip : you can set recursion to 1 ,and repeat complite shatter, Such benefits can be observed debris, can undo if you are not satisfied.

3) UV:When you create debris is complete, If you need to mapping debris ,
         please click the setMaterial button, Will be automatically allocated uv:

4) About collision:

     You can use nima or rigid bodies for maya;
      I recommend a free plug-in for maya: nima, very fast:
